Sulaiman Al-Hajri: The Engineering Sector is a Cornerstone for Achieving Sustainable Development

Eng. Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Al Hajri, Secretary General of the Society of Engineers – UAE (SoE – UAE), extended the warmest congratulations to the SoE's members and all engineers worldwide on the occasion of the World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development.

On the fourth of March, the world celebrates the World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development, pursuant to the decision of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), to adopt the World Engineering Day as the World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development.

Al-Hajri stressed the importance of the engineering sector in societies as the cornerstone for achieving sustainable development, well-being and quality of life, due to engineers' possession of practical skills and capabilities that enable them to perform their work in a better way.

"Thanks to the wise leadership, our beloved country is proceeding with a steady pace and a thoughtful strategic approach that enhances its priorities during the UAE's Golden Jubilee year. It is an approach based on potentials mobilization and optimal investment of human capital in various fields, especially the engineering sector, which witnessed a qualitative leap that keeps pace with today's requirements and the Industrial Revolution 4.0 of artificial intelligence… etc., which contributed greatly to the UAE's possession among the developed countries in the field of construction, urban revival and modern technology." Al-Hajri added.

The Secretary General of the SoE stated that the celebration of the World Engineering Day is a forum that brings together industry leaders, engineers, and regional and international organizations to reflect and consult on the optimal use of engineering in addressing the world's pressing challenges.

In conclusion, Al-Hajri called on engineering sector members in various specializations, especially youth engineers, to develop their engineering skills and upgrade their creativity and innovation capabilities to keep pace with the requirements of the labor market, with the aim of development, sustainability, and enhancement of the achievements of the urban revival that the UAE is progressively witnessing.
