SOE’s “General Assembly” approves Action Plan 2019

On Thursday, 2 May, the 40th General Assembly of SOE - UAE has been held at SOE Dubai Headquarter to discuss SOE’s financial and administrative reports, activities for the last year and future plans. The General Meeting was attended by Eng. Mohamed Mahmoud Mashroom, SOE President, Eng. Abdulla Yousef Al Ali, Vice President, Eng. Sulaiman Abdulrahman Al Hajri, General Secretary, Dr. Nahla Ahmed Alqassimi, Board Director Member, and the representative of Ministry of Community Development.


 

At the beginning of the meeting, Eng. Mohamed Mahmoud Mashroom, SOE President, welcomed the audience, stating that minutes of the previous meeting and the Members’ proposals have been approved.

Responding to the question raised by one of the General Assembly Members, Mashroom stated the SOE - UAE openness to the educational institutions and universities. Mashroom pointed out that the SOE - UAE has concluded a cooperation Agreement with Ajman University last week, which aims to exchange experiences and targets engineering students.

  Thereafter, Mashroom presented a detailed report on SOE performance during 2018, reviewing several achievements made within this period, the most prominent of which is SOE - UAE host and organization of ITA-AITES World Tunnel Congress - Dubai 2018 as well as establishing Youth Engineers Council last month.

Responding to an inquiry from one of the General Assembly regarding qualitative expansion of SOE membership, Eng. Abdulla Yousef Al Ali, Vice President, stated that there are initiatives developed to recruit new members to the General Assembly in various engineering specialties.

 

 For his part, responding to the questions raised by the audience, Eng. Sulaiman Abdulrahman Al Hajri, General Secretary, indicated that SOE pays attention to youth and works to develop and refine their skills through holding workshops and training courses in various engineering fields to enhance and develop skills, achieve best engineering practices and gain experience and labor market requirements, citing the establishment of Youth Engineers Council recently by the General Assembly.

 Further, Dr. Nahla Ahmed Alqassimi, Board Director Member, gave an overview of the Youth Engineers Council and its objectives of developing innovative initiatives, which may be of interest to the youth engineers. In addition, to embrace and guide youth engineers among different authorities, highlight the creative engineers and discuss the challenges they face at their early scientific path.

Mashroom, Board of Directors Members and the General Assembly Members expressed their thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance for his support and patronage of SOE.

After an extensive, clear and transparent discussion by the General Assembly Members, both financial and administrative reports of the Board of Directors for 2018 and the action plan for the current year have been approved.
