Opening
Dear Colleagues and Fellow Engineers,
May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon you,
The UAE has demonstrated, thanks to the directions of the wise leadership, its ability to face and deal with crises in a
highly professional manner derived from its forward-looking vision for a better future. This is evidenced in dealing with
Coronavirus pandemic, the epidemic that recently spread globally.
Since the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic in December 2019 in the Chinese province of Wuhan, then
its spread globally, countries and health organizations have taken many precautionary plans and measures to reduce
the seriousness of this pandemic and keep off its social and economic effects, according to their own capabilities and
abilities.
The UAE provided an example in the management of the Coronavirus crisis, by keeping pace with the directives of
the World Health Organization and applying such directives fully and promptly, as well as commitment to transparency
standards in dealing with the crisis, and providing data on the epidemic status within the country on a daily basis. In
addition to urging and involving the community in efforts to contain the disease, through awareness and responsibility
of the community in adopting preventive measures, and promoting community initiatives, individuals and companies,
and expanding laboratory testing to detect the virus. These efforts, and other efforts, have had a great role in con-
trolling the spread of the pandemic, which is witnessed by the World Health Organization, experts and specialists.
These extraordinary circumstances witnessed by the state in light of the current crisis posed a challenge to the en-
gineering sector, which, as other sectors of community, was affected by these repercussions and the precautionary
measures that led to the cessation of many engineering activities and events that the Society of Engineers is spon-
soring and participating in, such as exhibitions and seminars, as well as engineering courses to qualify and raise the
capabilities of its members. Instead, these circumstances represented a great motivation switch to remote e-services
and to communicate with members of the Board of Directors in order to develop future plans and consider and dis-
cuss the challenges of engineers and the engineering sector. Further, SoE organized numerous free workshops and
courses remotely with the participation of more than two thousand engineers, in order to enhance its role in providing
best engineering practices.
In line with the UAE's policy to control the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic, SoE has been keen to implement
precautionary actions and measures for its employees, workers and members.
As part of its policy towards community, interaction with community challenges, and to support distance education
initiative, SoE provided valued support to Ajman University students represented in ten laptops.
During the crisis, SoE did not neglect its other tasks, as it coordinated with the Council of Youth Engineers to organize
several seminars and dialogue sessions, including the role of the Arab female engineer in the development of en-
gineering sector; and Series titled «Engineering Course in Ramadan» that addressed training courses and learning
between the present and the future with the participation of experts and specialists; in addition to (Love and Loyalty
to Zayed) session on the occasion of Zayed Humanitarian Work Day presented by Sheikh Dr. Abdulaziz bin Ali bin
Rashid Al-Nuaimi, CEO of Al-Ihsan Charity Association, besides to participation in a discussion session organized
by the Faculty of Engineering at Higher Colleges of Technology on the challenges facing the engineering sector. And
many activities and courses related to the engineering field.
We, the board of directors, are currently discussing and studying a number of engineering and social projects that are
going to be significant in serving our community and nation.
In conclusion, we, the Board of Directors, affirm that we will spare no effort in providing all that is required for the
advancement of the engineering sector in our beloved country, in line with the vision of our wise leadership in adapting
future foresight strategies to make UAE a leading city of the future.
Only Allah leads to prosperity
